NAMAs in the context of NDC implementation – online course has been updated

Since March 2015, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been offering the online course ‘Development of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs)’ via its Global Campus 21. This course has been developed and promoted under the auspices of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV. Thus far more than 550 people have registered for this course.

In light of the Paris Agreement and the discussions in the climate community regarding the role of NAMAs in this context, the e-learning course and the underlying NAMA tool have been updated – both in terms of technical features and content.

If you are involved in implementing mitigation actions in your country or if you wish to make use of NAMAs to boost the sustainable development in your sector, this course will help you understand what NAMAs are, how they relate to nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and low-emission development strategies (LEDS), how your country can select the most advantageous NAMA ideas, and how a NAMA idea can be developed to a full-fledged NAMA that is ready for implementation. The course will enable you to go through a step by step process of choosing and developing a design for NAMA ideas.

The course has no sectoral focus but is meant as an introduction to NAMA development in general. It is free of charge and consists of four modules which can be used separately or consecutively.
