Co-benefits of MRV itself!

The Tunisian Building NAMA aims to reduce GHG emissions from energy consumption in the housing sector by 4.8 million tonnes CO2eq below baseline by 2030. The main instruments are financial incentive programmes which promote improved thermal insulation, solar water heating and photovoltaic installations in residential and tertiary buildings. Although the implementation of the NAMA brings various social and economic co-benefits, implementing the incentive schemes involves a substantial administrative workload by the entities concerned. In order to address this challenge and ensure the effective implementation and management of the NAMA, ANME and GIZ have developed an operational MRV system for the NAMA which helps to reduce this workload by 67% and thus exceeds traditional expectations of MRV systems for NAMAs.

This publication gives insights into the MRV systems of the Tunisian Building NAMA and shows in what way it leads to co-benefits.
