The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany (BMU) and the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) held the side event "Enhancing transparency around NDCs for benefits beyond reporting - benefits of climate reporting beyond meeting international reporting requirements" at SB 50. The event presented achieved results and lessons learnt by countries supported under the IKI-funded project Information Matters and the multi-donor funded initiative ICAT.

As part of the side event, a panel discussion on country cases welcoming representatives from Chile, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Georgia, and Viet Nam was facilitated. Their inputs touched upon their national experiences with the current MRV framework with a special focus on:

  • challenges and success stories: how to engage various sectors and the subnational level
  • national benefits of a robust transparency system

Following this, a Q&A session was held offering the opportunity to the audience to contribute their experiences to the side event. Afterwards, all guests were invited to stay for a reception.
