(ICD) will be hosting the side event “Ready for the Enhanced Transparency Framework? Mastering BURs today, tracking NDCs tomorrow” during COP 23. The organization of the event is being supported by the project Information Matters and the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement. The event aims to showcase and share experiences and lessons learned from capacity building activities in selected pilot countries that are setting up national reporting systems for their Biennial Update Reports (BURs). Special focus will be given to national GHG inventories and progress made on enhancing existing capacities and structures in national MRV systems. It will be further shown how the GIZ Information Matters project has supported this process in those countries.

Topics which will be discussed by the participating countries include:

  • Identification of needs to improve national reporting in a sustainable manner
  • Process of preparing the BUR: challenges and success stories
