Webinar on 'A Guide to INDCs' (conducted by CDKN/ Ricardo-AEA)
In cooperation with the Cluster Francophone of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV, Ricardo-AEA and CDKN conducted a webinar on their ‘Guide to INDCs’. The webinar held in French took place on Monday, 15th of June, 2015 and brought together participants from various countries, such as Tunisia, Algeria and France.
The authors presented a guide to facilitate the preparation of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) by Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It was written upon the request of several LDCs and SIDS that have expressed a need for practical advice, tailored to their needs.
The guide was developed in consultation with a range of stakeholders, including the authors of existing guidance on the development of INDCs, representatives from LDCs and SIDS and organisations working with CDKN to support the preparation of INDCs. It seeks to cover the wide range of approaches envisaged by LDCs and SIDS in the preparation of their INDC, reflecting their different national circumstances and their degree of capacities, preliminary work and ambition. In the absence of an official INDC format, the guide presents a concrete example of the key elements of an INDC prepared by an LDC or SIDS and how it could be structured. A number of elements discussed will probably also apply to other developing and developed countries.
