Training local trainers in Algeria to enhance national knowledge of GHG inventories in the waste sector
Local capacities in Algeria have been strengthened on a sustainable basis by training local trainers in GHG inventories and mitigation options in the waste sector. The local trainers trained in May 2019 did not wait long to deliver their first capacity-building training and kick-off workshop, doing so the very next month for Algerian actors involved directly and indirectly in compiling the GHG inventory in the waste sector for Algeria’s first Biennial Update Report (BUR) and third National Communication (NC).
Climate Helpdesk provides short-term support to countries for NDCs, Transparency and LEDS
The newly launched Climate Helpdesk is a Service implemented by GIZ integrating LEDS GP, the NDC Cluster and PATPA, in cooperation with the NDC Partnership under one roof. The service can provide support ranging from remote action to short-term support in the country encompassing between 5.000€ and 30.000€.
GIZ Publication on NDCs and the Enhanced Transparency Framework
In June, GIZ published the paper “Next steps under the Paris Agreement and the Katowice Climate Package”. The document provides guidance to policy makers and practitioners on key steps and challenges in the development, implementation and maintenance of NDCs, as well as the new transparency requirements under the Paris Agreement.
Information Matters final Side Event @ SB50 in Bonn: Co-Benefits of climate reporting
A final side event by the IKI-funded project Information Matters took place at SB50 in Bonn. The event was an opportunity to highlight the results and countries’ lessons learnt following the support through the project.
